FAQ 2183
“I'm trying to COPY/SCAN but the Xerox is saying it can’t detect the original document size”. What should I do?

The Xerox devices are set to auto-detect the size of any document you copy or scan.

This works well, usually!

However, auto-detect will occasionally struggle with certain documents.

On-screen advice should lead you to a solution, but please do make sure that the document you are seeking to copy or scan is right up against the green orientation arrow on the glass. For small documents (ID cards, passports etc), place a sheet of A4 paper behind the item you seek to copy or scan.

If you still experience an ‘auto-detect’ issue, try setting ‘paper supply’ on the ‘copy’ screen to a designated paper tray on the device.

If you are scanning-to-email, and the Xerox is unable to detect paper size, you may be led to the ‘original size’ dialogue box - then select either A4 (or A3) or use the sizing option to specify the approximate size of your document. If the machine does not lead you automatically to the ‘original size’ dialogue box go to ‘Layout adjustment’, then ‘Original size’ and select as above.
