Why don’t people secure a placement?
There are many reasons why students do not secure placements – some students change to other programmes (e.g. to WES / WIS), others decide that they would like to undertake a summer placement instead of a year placement; in addition to this some students experience practical issues such as housing or language difficulties.
Another reason why some students may not be able to secure a placement is because of a lack of preparation; it is good to start planning for your placement from day one at University by undertaking a variety of extracurricular activities (such as societies, volunteering, work shadowing and work experience) to improve your CV.
