FAQ 1608
Do I need to apply for the Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) each year?

If you are an undergraduate student funded via the Student Loan Company (e.g. Student Finance England) and are re-applying for the Student Loan, then you should tick the box on the Student Loan form indicating that you want to apply for the DSA support to continue. You will not need to fill in another DSA1 form. The recommendations contained in your Assessment of Needs report will then continue for the next academic year.

If you are an undergraduate student funded via the Student Loan Company and are not applying for the Student Loan, then you will need to fill in the full version of the DSA1 form and get your University to fill in and sign Section 5. The recommendations contained in your Assessment of Needs report will then continue for the next academic year. You will need to fill in the DSA1 form each year.

If you are a postgraduate student funded via the Student Loan Company then you will need to fill in the full version of the DSA1 form and get your University to fill in and sign Section 5. The recommendations contained in your Assessment of Needs report will then continue for the next academic year. You will need to fill in the DSA1 form each year.

If you are a postgraduate student not funded by the Student Loan Company then please arrange an appointment with an advisor to discuss funding for your support.
