I’ve sent some jobs to print, but when I swipe my card they don’t appear in the 'Documents Waiting' area at the Xerox device. Where are they?!

Please consider the following options to solve this issue. 

Are you sending your print jobs to the correct print queue from your PC?
 Remember you are sending your print jobs to campus-wide print queues not a specific printer/copier. 

The default print queue is Xerox_Student_Monochrome. If you require colour use Xerox_Student_Colour (you will need to visit a colour-capable Xerox to release the document – signs on the device will tell you if it is colour-capable). 

If you submit a document to the colour queue but login at a device that can only print in black & white your print job will not appear at that device. Documents sent to the monochrome queue will appear at both black & white and colour-capable devices. A document sent to the monochrome queue will always print in black & white even if you release it at a colour-capable device.

If you are in an area with an HP Laserjet print-release station then use the HP_Laserjet_ Monochrome_A4 queue. 


Has your cluster PC failed to connect to the Xerox print queues? At your PC, go to Windows Start Button>Devices and Printers. If no Xerox_Student print queues are present then try logging out then back in again on to your pc, or you could try a different PC. If you continue to have problems, contact SID as your user profile may need resetting.


Very large print files take a time for the print server to process, meaning a delay before they appear in the documents waiting area at any device. In particular, PDF files generate very large print files, especially if they have images. Try re-visiting the device in a few minutes.  


Finally, are you using your own swipe card/login at the print device, having sent documents to print from a PC you've logged into as yourself? Unless you are, the print service won’t be able to connect your card ID with the documents you have sent to print.
