I've clicked on a spam email, what should I do?

If you have clicked on a spam email and entered your University account details please call SID immediately on 4724 (0300 555 0444 if off-campus) to reset your password.


If you have clicked on an attachment or a link but have not entered any details please run a virus scan using Symantec which should be available on your university managed computer.

To run a Quick Scan on the local computer


        1. Start Symantec AntiVirus.

        2. Click Scan > Quick Scan.

        3. Click Options.

        4. Under File Types, make sure that All types is selected.

        5. Under Scan Enhancements, check Scanning for traces of well-known viruses and Security Risks.

        6. Click OK.

        7. Click Scan.

If you are still concerned after scanning your PC, please call SID on 0300 555 0444 (4724 internally), and quote your computer name - to find this, right click on Computer (in the Start Menu) and select Properties, then scroll down in the new window to find the Computer Name.
