FAQ 395
Can I bring my family to live in the UK with me?

If you are coming to the UK on a postgraduate course of 12 months or more (or at least 9 months if you apply on or after 6 July 2018), and you are applying for a Tier 4 visa, you should be able to bring your spouse or unmarried partner and your children with you as your dependants. Some government sponsored students are eligible to bring dependants for courses of 6 months or more.

Your dependants will be expected to remain in the UK and live with you throughout the period of your visas. You will only be permitted to bring your children to the UK with you if both parents will be in the UK. In exceptional cases where you have sole responsibility for your children, it may be possible to bring them to the UK without the other parent, but you should contact us for specialist advice from one of the immigration advisers in our International Student Support team.

For detailed advice, please see the Dependent Visa section on the International Student Support website, and if you have any further questions, please log an enquiry.
