FAQ 751
How do I make a complaint?

There may be certain circumstances in which you feel the need to make a complaint.

Examples of complaints you may have include misinformation about academic programmes, poor teaching or supervision, insufficient facilities, the behaviour of a member of staff, the behaviour of another student, or a failing in a University service, academic or non-academic.

In many cases the issue may be resolved by discussion at an informal level.

However sometimes this is not possible and you need to know what steps to take and who to speak to in order to find resolution.

You will find full details of the Student Complaints Procedure here.

Please remember that a complaint should be submitted as soon as possible after a problem occurs and in any even must be whilst you are a current student or within one month of ceasing to be registered with the University.

We recommend that you draft your complaint, including your preferred resolution and send it to us either by email to studentadvice@exeter.ac.uk or via SID online.

We can assist you by explaining how the Complaints process works and what you need to do.
We will read over documents and may accompany you to meetings.
However we will not represent you or write documents for you.

If you are based at the Exeter campuses, you can make an appointment to see an adviser by contacting the Students' Guild Advice Unit on 01392 723520 or emailing studentadvice@exeter.ac.uk.
