FAQ 765
What is the difference between mitigation and an extension?

Extensions are applied for before a piece of work is due.

  • If you feel unable to hand a piece of work in on time, and have good reason, you could apply for an extension.
  • Mitigation is generally asked for after a deadline, to explain why a deadline or test was missed.

Either form must be accompanied by evidence if appropriate (eg a medical certificate) and should be submitted in person to the Biosciences Student Office.
