FAQ 339
What is the difference between a referred and deferred assessment?

Referred assessment:

If you fail an assessment and mitigation has not been applied by your College:

You are eligible to take the exam/resubmit an assignment for a second time.

This is classified as a referred assessment and a fee is applicable for exams and coursework.

Deferred assessment:

If you did not take/submit the assessment and you have been granted mitigation:

This is classed as a deferred assessment for which there is no fee.

Referred assessment marks are capped at the minimum pass mark whilst deferred assessments award the full marks gained.
